About The Train

Named after the famous Stone Chariot in Hampi, a World Heritage Site in South India, The Golden Chariot conveys you in luxurious comfort on voyages through time and exotic South Indian locales. On these journeys, it unravels for you both eras hidden behind time’s veil, and the splendours of the present day. Pride of the South
The Golden Chariot transports you to the worlds of mythology, heritage, worship, natural wonders, wildlife, adventure, beaches and more. Spanning 7 nights and 8 days, the ‘Pride of the South’ itinerary begins with Bangalore and encompasses tiger-stalked Kabini, avian paradise Srirangapatna, majestic Mysore, colossal and monolithic Shravanabelagola, transcendent architectural marvels Belur and Halebid, imperial Hampi, sublime Badami and Pattadakal, and finally, the glorious beaches of Goa!

Each Coach of the “The Golden Chariot – Pride of The South” has been named after the dynasties that ruled Karnataka – Kadamba, Hoysala, Rastrakota, Ganga, Chalukya, Bhahamani, Adhilshahi, Sangama, Shathavashna, Yudukula and Vijayanagar.

Nala named after a king and legendary chef from the times of the Mahabharata. Ruchi, a name that means fine taste in Sanskrit. The two restaurants serve a spread of vegetarian and non-vegetarian culinary delights.

Day 1 – BANGALORE

1730 hrs Presentation and Orientation on The Golden Chariot tour

1845 hrs Visit the ISKCON Temple (The International Society for Krishna Consciousness)
2015 hrs Traditional welcome at Yeshwanthpur railway station and board The Golden Chariot
2100 hrs Train departs to Mysore

Day 2 – MYSORE & KABINI

1000 hrs Visit the famous Amba Vilas Mysore Palace
1115 hrs Depart for Kabini in coach
1315 hrs: Reach Kabini jungle lodges resort – Lunch at the resort
1545 hrs Jungle safari

2000 hrs Dinner followed by camp fire and stay overnight at jungle lodges resort

Day 3 – KABINI & MYSORE

(Please note that you would have to climb close to 700 steps to experience the architectural marvel. Only those who can undertake this are advised to do so. Guests unwilling to climb can stay back on board The Golden Chariot)

1530 hrs Visit to the Vijaya Vittala temple complex and the marvel stone chariot
1700 hrs Sit out by the banks of the Tungabhadra River for sunset view

Day 6 – BADAMI

0840 hrs Depart for sightseeing: Pattadakal and Badami cave temples- World Heritage Sites

1330 hrs Lunch on board and depart for Goa

Day 7 – GOA

Booking / Cancellation – Terms & Conditions

  • 10% extra surcharge during Christmas and New Year departures.
  • Service Tax will be extra as applicable.
  • Half fare for children between 5 and 12 years.
  • The Tariff does not include: Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, spa, business car facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.
  • Tariff is inclusive of accommodation on board The Golden Chariot and other resorts/ Travel/ all meals/ conducted sightseeing tours / entrance fees at monuments / parks/ palaces and cultural programs.

Booking Policy:

  • 20% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
  • Remaining 80% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure along with the naming list. .

Cancellation Policy:

  • 5% of ticket value 60 days or more prior to departure.
  • 20% of ticket value between 45 to 59 days prior to departure.
  • 50% of ticket value between 30 to 44 days prior to departure.
  • 100% of ticket value 30 days prior to departure.

No show/ En route termination of tour/amendment:

  • No Show – In case of No Show / Non-arrival of the guest, no refund or adjustment in future travel will be possible. The whole amount shall be treated as forfeited.
  • En route termination of tour – In case of termination of tour by the guest, for any reasons, no refund or adjustment for future travel will be possible. The amount for unused portion of the tour shall be treated as forfeited.
  • Amendment – Is only possible under the circumstances like Natural Disaster / Natural Calamity or Serious Health Problem’s (this needs to be supported by doctor’s certificate) and is subject to availability. No refunds are possible and every case will be decided on merits on a case to case basis. No amendment will be permissible in case of booking of groups or complete train.
